May 7-8 2010 - Lijiang, Yunnan, China

Next stop, Lijiang.  Since I had been there already my focus was not the town but the area around.  I took a bus with a Canadian girl I'd met and walked around the Baisha area north of Lijiang.  The scenery looking toward 5596m Jade Dragon Snow Mountain was nothing short of spectcular and the weather was perfect.  We climbed a bit of a hill and then descended into the town to briefly visit the former resdience of Dr Joseph Rocks house - it's amazing to think he was here in this area in the 1920's - one can only imagine how remote it must have been in those days.
